Ed and Lelo’s Wedding Day!

“I’m sorry, but I no longer photograph weddings!” That was my reply when Lelo called me on Monday to ask if I would photograph their wedding for today. Yes, that’s right. Two days ago she called. I explained that I do not photograph weddings now, but would be happy to give her names of some fine photographers here in Abilene who are wonderful! But, something in her voice drew me to her and before I knew it, I said, “yes.” The hard part was really not saying “yes” to her, but in telling my husband that I had agreed to photograph a wedding the day before my mother-in-law and the rest of the family arrives to our home for Thanksgiving!

I am so excited to share part of Ed and Lelo’s story with you! They told me this story just minutes before the minister arrived to perform their ceremony and I was so teary eyed that I had to pull myself together just to photograph from then on! You see, Ed and Lelo were married 22 years ago in 1986. They were “young and stupid” in their own words and divorced one year later. Lelo never remarried and just this Fall after Ed was single again, a friend encouraged him to call her. At first he was hesitant, but on their first meeting, they “knew!” And, I knew just by looking at their eyes! It was the most romantic moment and maybe the most romantic of any wedding, even though it was just the preacher, Ed, Lelo and myself in the chapel. It was a lovely morning and one I was so proud to photograph for them! Enjoy a sampling from their special wedding day!

Finally I can post beautiful Christina’s bridal portraits! You might not can tell by looking, but it was 39 degrees and the wind was blowing from the North the day of her bridal session! But, she drove in from Fort Worth and it was now or never for her to do this session, so we did our very best and she was valiant in keeping a good attitude and a beautiful smile! Her wedding to Ricky was on a much warmer day in Waco, Texas and we were so honored to attend and witness their vows. Blessings to this sweet, sweet couple!

I photographed Nathan and Bethany’s wedding in December 2006 and today they came by and ordered this gorgeous art work for their home! A 16×24 inch canvas gallery wrap and just in time for the March special! It’s so wonderful to have couples come by months or years after their wedding and be able to sit and catch up with their lives. Nathan is in his third year of medical school and Bethany is in a doctoral program in graduate school! The sweetest couple to visit with and they still seem like newlyweds!

Six weeks ago today I photographed this sweet couple’s wedding here in Abilene! How wonderful they both were to photograph for their engagement session, then Katie’s bridal session and then their beautiful wedding and rockin’ reception! I love to be part of that journey to document such special moments. Here are just a few I thought reflected the feeling of the day.

Today was such a beautiful day for a wedding! It was a little warm during the afternoon, but by the time the ceremony was over, the evening was perfect! Karri and Michael have been wonderful to work with and photograph as well. They are very blessed with two supportive, Christian families and tons of friends! It has been an honor to photograph many wonderful weddings here in Abilene and Karri and Michael’s was no exception.
