Kyle and Stephanie are getting married! A very sweet couple who are very special to our family. Kyle and our son were college friends and we think very highly of sweet Stephanie, a beautiful young woman who has stolen Kyle’s heart! We had such fun photographing them around downtown Abilene just prior to a rainstorm that was threatening us the whole time! In spite of the Spring West Texas winds, we had a really beautiful evening for the engagement session of Donald and Hilary! Donald is another local photographer and they both work at ACU and met at church. They are very sweet and very funny!

Tonight was a HUGE honor for me to photograph Greg, an amazing photographer and photojournalist! I never get more butterflies about a session as when it’s another photographer as my subject! But, it was a beautiful evening and we got some great head shots for him to use for his own business. His precious wife, Sara, came along and we did part of the session photographing the two of them and they are SO cute! Can you believe they are getting ready to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary? Well, they are a wonderful team and I feel so blessed tonight by spending time with them.

San Antonio was our location for this special engagement session and more specifically, the San Antonio Botanical Gardens! I’ve known Ian since he was in fourth grade and now he’s in his last year of medical school! He is such a gentle, kind person which are wonderful qualities in a family doctor! And, Laura is every bit as wonderful as Ian! They both love running and hiking and are strong in their faith! What a great journey they are beginning!

We threaded the needle between cold fronts and snow to spend a gorgeous afternoon photographing Jessica and Derek for their engagement session! And, an engagement session on Valentine’s weekend seems very fitting! Jessica is in nursing school in Waco and Derek has his own construction business. They already have their first “baby”…..Brody is a one year old Malteze and he loves to kiss Derek as you can see in the image below!

Rhett, Shannon and Kricket

I can only remember one other time I was colder on a photo session and then there was actually snow on the ground! But, this sweet couple met me and we got some GREAT images in just a short amount of time! Rhett is a student at Hardin-Simmons here in Abilene and Shannon is working for a local dentist. And, how cute is Kricket! We LOVE when families bring their dogs on a photo session! Poor little Kricket was shivering, but still awfully cute!

The Story of Wayne and Ruby

August 12, 2009 Wayne and Ruby will celebrate (and I do mean celebrate) 50 years of marriage! These two crazy kids were so much fun to photograph! I’ve known them for many years as Ruby was my husband’s departmental administrative assistant when we lived here back in the 80′s and also when we first returned to Abilene. She is now retired and staying busy with Wayne, their three sons and four grandchildren!

Ruby was in high school when she met this tall, handsome Air Force guy! He said tonight, “if you saw my picture of her in high school, you’d know why I fell for her!” So they met, had their first date, ten days later he was gone on an assignment and when he returned, they married twelve days later! (Now, if you are one of my high school senior girls reading this….DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!)

Congratulations Wayne and Ruby! You are role models for us all!

Weldon and Arla

I can’t remember meeting a nicer couple than the folks you see here! Why before we had even officially met, she had offered to fix us lunch! Weldon and Arla have been married for fifty years and have spent most of those years right here on their land. What a joy and a privilege to photograph them on this beautiful day! (The color images are just as beautiful. I was just being a bit artistic in my interpretation!)
